Luke 12:24-26, 31
Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?
…But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.
Wow! I could read each line of that over and over.
Since I’ve been starting a journey of “having less and enjoying more,” the verse about the ravens struck me the most.
“Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them.”
Who am I to meddle and try to control it all? I am going to develop the mindset that, even the ravens don’t have a closet to store their stuff but yet God gives them everything they need. This should help me live with less and be more thankful for what I DO have.
I’m reading the book, “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing” By Marie Kondo Her motto is, “If something doesn’t bring you joy, don’t keep it.” I have been adopting this as I am discarding things around my house. I am by no means a hoarder, but in my bedroom alone, I’ve gathered up and donated 10-yes 10 big garbage bags full of stuff that “doesn’t bring me joy.” I can already feel the relief and my room is less distracting. I think if I pair that with “the ravens don’t have a storage closet,” I should be setting myself up for success!
This is true for our minds as well. Clear your mind of what doesn’t make you happy.
I encourage YOU to try this changed way of thinking as well. Do you have stuff cluttering your mind (and your home) that doesn’t bring you joy? It’s time for a little “spring cleaning.”
Tidy up, let go and let God take care of the rest!
With Aloha,
Lacy

I really love this and the quote too. I’ve also spent the last few weeks decluttering, such a good feeling letting things go and creating new energy. Lovely post.

Thank you for your service! I’m a military spouse so I understand relying on your faith to get through…you on the battlefield even more so! Praise God for keeping you safe and able to share your story now.

My pastor mentioned this verse in his sermon this morning. It reminded me of this post and I wanted to re-share it with ya’ll. Have a wonderful Sunday my friends!
