Christmas in July: a poem

I'm part of Post A Day 2016

Dash

Christmas in July

‘Twas the night before Independence Day and all through the house

not a creature was stirring-not even a mouse.

My children were snuggled all up in their bed,

while I decided, it was time that I read.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,

I dashed from the bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I must take a look!

Grumpily, I put on my slippers and set down my book.

There were booms there were flares and lots of bright light,

Lovely, I thought…I get to hear this all night!

Ha-just a little humor.

Have fun everyone!

Be safe, and Happy 4th of July 🙂

With Aloha,

Lacy

  1. Funny, we’ve already had a couple LOUD BOOMS that startled us the last two nights…you know, someone has to test to ensure they work. Thankfully, our current dog is fine in the house. When my husband I first stated dating, they lived near the sand/beach of Newport Beach and fireworks were loud – they had this beast of a dog – looked like lab, but was half Bullmastif and huge! Russ would jump on you at the slightest sound and he weighed more than most of us. We’d find him in the shower shaking, fur tumbling off whenever there was wind and wind chimes started making noise. We had to eventually get him some doggie tranquilizers each 4th of July. And if we couldn’t find him, we’d look in the tub.
