Butting Heads with God

I'm part of Post A Day 2016

Do you ever feel like you are butting heads with God?

You ask for one thing and He gives you the exact opposite?

Or, maybe he “ignores” your request all together?

You ask for strength to help you move on and yet…you find yourself still struggling to even stay afloat?

It’s in these moments where I have to ask myself,

“Am I asking for HIS will? Or, could it possibly be MY will?”

“Asking for strength does no good if we are going in the wrong direction.”

-Pastor Wayne Corderro

Think about that for a minute…God’s desire is to protect us and to guide us. If we see a prayer request going unanswered, there is a reason for that. Perhaps, it’s not what He has written in His plan for us. Maybe He knows that giving us that request leads to unfavorable consequences down the road. Maybe, leaving the prayer unanswered is, in fact, a blessing even.

We need to remember His will is what is best for us. When we pray “thy will be done,” we are allowing God to work freely in our lives. Once we line up our desires with God’s desires THEN we can ask for strength because we know it is strength to carry out His will rather than OUR OWN will.

Friends, we need to stop fighting Him and start following Him!

Have you ever found yourself butting heads with God?

How do you think stopping and asking yourself if it was HIS will or YOUR will would change the outcome of your prayers?

It can be difficult to give God free-reign of our lives. But, the rewards for doing so speak for themselves, don’t you think?

I encourage you to stop fighting Him and start following Him and see how it changes things in your life! If you have already done this, I’d love to hear HOW it changed you!

  1. Basically all my posts are about years of following my own will before I realised that I had to follow His. It’s not easy but we can try harder always. Thank you. Great post. ā¤ļøšŸ™šŸ»šŸ˜Š

  2. Lacy, I love the way you write, transparent, honest and so open. Thank you for this great post. I do believe it is so important for us to question our motives and seek God’s will for our lives before we do anything!

  3. Phenomenal post. So inspiring and motivational. I can’t tell how how many times I’ve butted heads with God but I know in the scheme of things he’s just doing whats best for me . I really like your quote, the one that says stop fighting with God.

      1. Interesting. I just noticed that those YouTube links I posted don’t show up in the comments on the WordPress Mobile App Reader, but they do in the comments of the web browser Reader.

So, for those like me who use their phones way more than their computers, I’ll have to start including the titles along with the links so those readers can do a quick search for them on YouTube if they want.

So, for those interested, here they are:

        Crowd of Foreign Girls
        Walk His Way

        Enjoy!

  4. I think that often God cannot send us the answer to our prayer as quickly as we would like because we wouldn’t be able to handle the responsibilities that would come along with it. We need time to grow first.

    1. Thank you so much for stopping by! Its encouraging to know that I can be an encouragement to you.

Trusting and following Gods will is a hard one even for adults. I’ve found verbally saying it to my son when I’m going to “give it to God” helps him incorporate it into his own life.

He told me just this morning that he prayed to God last night about Christmas. He’s been bummed out because we can’t find all of the pieces to his mini tree for his room. And, even worse, his star won’t light up. He said, he prayed to God that he wasn’t going to let those little things stop him from celebrating Jesus’s birthday. He was going to trust that God will help him make it a great Christmas anyway.

It made me want to cry to see such strong faith coming from such a little boy. I find myself learning so much from him when I should be the one teaching him.

      How old is your son?

I will check out your blog for sure šŸ™‚
