Butting Heads with God

Do you ever feel like you are butting heads with God?

You ask for one thing and He gives you the exact opposite?

Or, maybe he “ignores” your request all together?

You ask for strength to help you move on and yet…you find yourself still struggling to even stay afloat?

It’s in these moments where I have to ask myself,

“Am I asking for HIS will? Or, could it possibly be MY will?”

“Asking for strength does no good if we are going in the wrong direction.”

Think about that for a minute…God’s desire is to protect us and to guide us. If we see a prayer request going unanswered, there is a reason for that. Perhaps, it’s not what He has written in His plan for us. Maybe He knows that giving us that request leads to unfavorable consequences down the road. Maybe, leaving the prayer unanswered is, in fact, a blessing even.

We need to remember His will is what is best for us. When we pray “thy will be done,” we are allowing God to work freely in our lives. Once we line up our desires with God’s desires THEN we can ask for strength because we know it is strength to carry out His will rather than OUR OWN will.

Friends, we need to stop fighting Him and start following Him!

It can be difficult to give God free-reign of our lives. But, the rewards for doing so speak for themselves, don’t you think?

I encourage you to stop fighting Him and start following Him and see how it changes things in your life! If you have already done this, I’d love to hear HOW it changed you!

  4. Phenomenal post. So inspiring and motivational. I can’t tell how how many times I’ve butted heads with God but I know in the scheme of things he’s just doing whats best for me . I really like your quote, the one that says stop fighting with God.

      3. Interesting. I just noticed that those YouTube links I posted don’t show up in the comments on the WordPress Mobile App Reader, but they do in the comments of the web browser Reader.

  8. I think that often God cannot send us the answer to our prayer as quickly as we would like because we wouldn’t be able to handle the responsibilities that would come along with it. We need time to grow first.

    “I will not drive them out from before you in one year, lest the land become desolate and the beasts of the field become too numerous for you. Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased, and you inherit the land.”

    1. Thank you so much for stopping by! Its encouraging to know that I can be an encouragement to you.

      Trusting and following Gods will is a hard one even for adults. I’ve found verbally saying it to my son when I’m going to “give it to God” helps him incorporate it into his own life.

      He told me just this morning that he prayed to God last night about Christmas. He’s been bummed out because we can’t find all of the pieces to his mini tree for his room. And, even worse, his star won’t light up. He said, he prayed to God that he wasn’t going to let those little things stop him from celebrating Jesus’s birthday. He was going to trust that God will help him make it a great Christmas anyway.

      It made me want to cry to see such strong faith coming from such a little boy. I find myself learning so much from him when I should be the one teaching him.
