Sweet & Simple DIY Valentine Frame Craft

Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to slow down and make something meaningful. This sweet and simple heart frame craft is easy to put together, uses minimal supplies, and creates a keepsake you’ll love displaying long after February 14th. Whether you’re crafting with kids or enjoying a quiet creative moment, this project is all about making something from the heart.

Supplies needed:

-Picture frame (Dollar Tree)

-Hearts (Dollar Tree-came on sticks but I cut them off with a nail trimmer)

-Black paint

-Paint brush

-Paint try

-Paper cut to fit the frame

-Glue (not pictured)

Once you have your supplies gathered, the fun begins.

  1. Remove the glass from your frame and set it aside for later.
  2. Paint your frame. I did a light, uneven coat so it gave more of the rustic vibe I wanted. However, you can paint it however you want! You can also try different colors-it doesn’t have to be black! Maybe you want to add glitter or sequins. Nothing is off limits here! Let your glam-girl spirit shine!
  3. While your frame is drying, gather up your hearts and paper piece.
    • These hearts came painted red, pink and gold already. You could always paint them any color you want though!
    • Then, arrange your hearts on the paper in any pattern you wish. Some girls chose to do a heart for each family member. I did more of a tic-tac-toe type pattern. Get creative and try different color combinations and layouts!
    • NOTE: Remember to leave space on the edge for the frame!
  4. Once you are happy with your layout, simply glue the hearts in place. I used superglue. If you don’t have glue, glue dots would work great for this project too!
  5. Ensure your frame is dry. Then, place the paper piece ON TOP of the glass (the glass will be BEHIND the paper and hearts) and assemble in the frame. The glass will help support the paper.

That’s all there is to it! Talk about quick, simple and super cute! I’m going to make a second one for my desk at work!

Whether you keep this heart frame for yourself or gift it to someone you love, it’s a simple reminder that the sweetest things are often handmade. Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be complicated to be meaningful—sometimes a little paint, a few hearts, and time together are more than enough.

With Love and Aloha,

Lacy
