I’m done!
Done striving for perfection. And, you know what?
THAT IS OKAY!
God put in us a desire for perfection. He knows that NOTHING IS PERFECT BUT HIM.
He gives us this desire for perfection so that we will LONG FOR HIM.
DRAW CLOSE TO HIM.
BE FULFILLED BY HIM.
Our world has fallen and become tainted by so much sin. Sumyanna posted a wonderful poem on this subject of the troubles this world faces daily: The Bloody Pages of Yesterday’s News.
It’s easy to be overwhelmed by the sad news stories we see daily when we turn on the TV. We open the newspaper and we are flooded with bad news and sad images. We are tempted to “fix” things ourselves because we have lost faith that God will handle it.
Friends, this is when we need to come to God the most! It’s in these times where it feels like there’s so much evil trying to take over, that we need to stand firm in the fact that God DOES have it all under control. We may question His timeline or His reasonings behind things. But, it’s not for us to tell God He’s doing it “wrong.” We are to just, as the hymn says, “Trust and Obey.” (I love that version by Big Daddy Weave by the way!)
As our relationship with Christ blossoms, we should find true comfort in that.
As I’m writing this, I can hear my daughter in the other room singing one of the songs she learned at Preschool. She’s singing at the top of her lungs, “Cast your burdens on Jesus because He cares for you!” If you want to hear this cute song and learn the dance moves, here it is: Cast Your Burdens.
I can’t help but feel like this was one of those moments that God planted in my house. He is using my daughter to remind me to “Cast my burdens on Jesus.” It’s true-plant the seed in them and they will end up planting the seed in us!
1 Peter 5:7 Cast your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
We will be frustrated and disappointed if we strive to find perfection in any way besides through Christ. We can’t let ourselves fall victim to the troublesome times and stray from what we KNOW is true.
Rather than finding our fulfillment in other people or other earthly things, we need to come before God so that He may become our deepest desire…
Psalm 37:4 says to “Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart.”
Let Him fulfill our yearning for perfection!
Let Him become our deepest desire!
Friends, thank you so much for reading this and taking time out of your day to spend some time with me. I know in our busy lives it’s easy to try to do things on our own. Let’s hold each other accountable to stay focused on Him and to not let outside things deplete our faith. Let us pursue Christ NOT perfection!
In what areas do you find yourself questioning God’s plans? Please comment below with a time you questioned God only to find His timing was perfect.

I like that! I’ve never looked at it like that, but that is an awesome thought! Thank you.

What resonated even more was your next statement:
“He gives us this desire for perfection so that we will LONG FOR HIM.”
That was the line I really wanted to focus on, and I guess by mistakenly copy/pasting the wrong line, it makes it stand out even more and draws even more attention to the thought.
I guess God intended it as an example of what you say in the post: it is amazing how God has all in control and makes EVERYTHING work together for good, even our supposed mistakes!!
