We just returned from a trip to Disney World.
While we were there, we met my—I mean my daughters—favorite Disney Princess-Ariel! She was INCREDIBLE! My Little Ladybug told Ariel that she had been at her birthday once when she turned 3. Ariel picked right up on that and told her how she “knew she looked familiar!” and how she “couldn’t believe how much she’s grown!” She even pointed out how her mermaid legs looked much stronger now!
It made us all reminisce about that fun birthday party a few years back.
It will go down as one of my favorite parties we’ve had.
I really enjoy party planning. It’s the one day a year where I like to really spoil the kids with a fun birthday party!
Being a huge, Ariel fan myself, I was living out a fantasy of mine with this Little Mermaid theme! ha
To start, I always like to have a nice backdrop for the food and cake area!
For this look, I used several different colored tablecloths, garlands, and balloons. My daughter was turning 3. So, at the center of the table, I printed off pictures of her on her 1st, 2nd and 3rd Birthday’s. It was fun to see how she had grown over the 3 years. I also used a “fish net,” some sea stars and jars full of seashells (the joys of living in Florida at the time…it was all easy to come by!)
Let’s take a closer look at the food!
My favorite part of the party prepping is coming up with “witty” food options. Here is what we did for the Little Mermaid party:

We can’t forget Ariel’s famous flatware:

The best part of the party, was when Ariel herself made an appearance to celebrate with us and do face painting!
Each girl had their own moment with the Sea Princess. But, my Ladybug was the first to see her arrive!
Boy, was she excited! She immediately wanted to show Ariel her special Birthday cake!
After the swimming, face painting, cake and partying was finished, it was time to show our appreciation for celebrating with us! Each friend was given a sand bucket with sand shovels/rakes.
Attached to each beach bucket, was a little note which read:
“Next time you go to sea, take this bucket, and think of me!”

Most of these party supplies were found at our local Party City.
I hope this has inspired you to get creative and create a magical birthday party for your special little girl! If you do, I would love to hear how it goes and which ideas you had or chose to use!
With Aloha,
Lacy

I was very impressed with her! We’ve come home to Hawaii and all she talks about is how Ariel remembered her! 😍
