5 Joys Carrying Me Through This Month

It’s December…do I even need to say more? It’s a crazy time of year. Several busy days, stretched thin moments…and its little victories. And in all of it, I keep noticing how God is slipping little pieces of joy into my days…just when I need them. Nothing dramatic. Just quiet gentle reminders that He is near.

Here are 5 Tiny Joys God is Using to Carry Me Through This Month:

1. Quiet moments with Him:

Even on those rushed mornings, I take a few moments to pray, read a devotional or just sip coffee while breathing in His peace. It changes everything. It’s in those still moments that I’m reminded that I’m NEVER alone.

2. Laughter that feels like a gift:

There have been a few moments this month where the house has been filled with bouts of laughter. My daughter had her basketball team over for a Christmas Cookie Party last weekend and wow! The amount of laughter a house full of teenage girls can bring is contagious. I felt like it was God’s way of saying, “here’s a moment of joy for you!” Enjoy it!

3. Peace that doesn’t match the chaos:

The holiday’s can be so busy that I find myself noticing the quiet moments more. They feel out of place almost. In the moments I typically rush through (like the school pick up line), I find myself taking a deep breath and just watching…watching the birds, the squirrels, the snow (ugh…the snow is still not this Hawaii girls’ favorite part lol but I CAN appreciate its beauty). These quiet moments feel like God placing a hand on me and giving me peace and rest after a busy day.

4. Little victories remind me that God is working:

My new work schedule gives me more time off during the week. I find myself with more time to finish projects I’ve been avoiding, catch up on some long overdue things and feel a sense of accomplishment through this. These tiny wins remind me that God is in the details…not just the big breakthroughs, but every little detail. Something that can be hard to believe this time of year when we are bombarded by other parents who appear to “have it all together” and nailing parenthood while I’m just trying to stay afloat!

5. The warmth of the season:

The best part of winter is the glow of Christmas lights, the coziness of being home, the Christmas music, the traditions. All of these things point me back to the reason we celebrate.

Jesus.

Hope.

Light in the darkness.

The steadiness of God and his love in every season.

This month so far has taught me that God’s presence isn’t always loud or obvious. Sometimes, it’s hidden in the mundane, smallest things. Those little joys we could miss if we weren’t paying attention.

And these tiny joys are more than enough!

With Love and Aloha,

Lacy
