He Rescued Me…(Bible Journal)

I'm part of Post A Day 2016

Psalm 18

Psalm 18

Do you ever feel like you have too much weight on your shoulders? That God has just given you more than you can handle?

What was He thinking having you face this giant?

What kind of God would let you experience this pain?

Friend, the bible says we are going to experience pain and tough situations…even as Christians. Being a Christian isn’t a “get out of jail free” card. There is no perfectly easy life. We are surrounded by the temptations and evils of the world driven to bring us pain.

Lucky for us, the Bible also shares that we can find peace in our Creator. That He has rescued us from our pain, from our trials, from our fears. It is up to US to accept this peace.

Even in the middle of all of the mess, God has a plan hidden within that mess. We may try to figure it out ourselves. But, that is not for us to do.

Trust me, I find myself crying out to God, “Why? What are you trying to show me in this situation? I’ve been faithful. Show me your reasoning here!”

In those moments, we need to remember, God is always by our side. He has equipped us with what we need to get through the messes. We need to just take a deep breath and remember…He already has our future written.

If you are one of my followers, you know my family and I live in Hawaii. Would you be surprised to know that the move here caused me a great deal of anxiety and even anger towards God? To hear me talk about how much I love Hawaii now, you would never guess that, would you?

As a military family who has had to move numerous time, we had finally settled on where we thought we would be retiring and finally planting some roots. We built our “forever” house, invested our hearts into what we thought were going to be our permanent neighbors/friends, only to find out the Navy needed my husband elsewhere. And, not just anywhere. Across the ocean!

I found myself begging God to change this situation. To find a way for us to stay put. I was angry. I was hurt. I was scared.

I finally came to grips with the idea that the Navy was NOT going to change its mind and that we WERE MOVING. A song came on K-Love and I found myself just weeping and pouring my heart out to God. I told him how I was ALL-IN putting my faith in Him to get me through. That I knew I wasn’t alone and that He would guard and protect my family:

“I Am Not Alone”
By: Kari Jobe

When I walk through deep waters
I know that You will be with me
When I’m standing in the fire
I will not be overcome
Through the valley of the shadow
I will not fear
I am not alone
I am not alone
You will go before me
You will never leave me
In the midst of deep sorrow
I see Your light is breaking through
The dark of night will not overtake me
I am pressing into You
Lord, You fight my every battle
And I will not fearYou amaze me
Redeem me
You call me as Your own

You’re my strength
You’re my defender
You’re my refuge in the storm
Through these trials
You’ve always been faithful
You bring healing to my soul

Listening to this song again as I write this still puts me to tears. I listened to this song so much that I even would catch my 3 year old singing it at the top of her lungs as she played in her room (which also put me to tears.)
I gave it ALL to God and found God’s plan was even better than ours.
I have come to LOVE Hawaii and can’t imagine my life without this experience. It has grasped my heart and I have found SO MUCH peace and happiness here. In fact, God has placed some amazing people in my life here. I am involved with an incredible church New Hope and surrounded with great mentors who have become my Ohana (family.)
I have seen my faith grow tremendously. I never would have thought 2 years ago that I would writing a faith-centered blog! But, here I am pouring my heart out.

Looking back, I realize God knew I needed the change and lifestyle that Hawaii offers to draw me closer to Him.

Friends, isn’t it amazing what can happen when we chill out and let God do His work in our lives? Instead of giving him a portion of my heart, I gave Him ALL of it…and my life has been changed forever!

I hope this has been an encouragement to you in some way. Please like, share and comment with a way God has changed your life!

  1. I enjoyed this post. Sure, there are times and circumstances that make me ponder and wonder if God is still there for me… But, in the end, He knows what’s best for us all. Thank you for sharing. This was timely for me. 🙂
