Scamper the Penguin: The Odd Movies Our Kids Fall in Love With

I'm part of Post A Day 2016

One thing I’ve learned as a mom, is that you just can never predict what shows your kids are going to be drawn to!

Sure, you can try to sway them away from the annoying Barney the dinosaur type shows. But, some of them, you just have to grin and bear it!

The show that my son picked to fall in love with was the movie “The Adventures of Scamper the Penguin.” This movie was originally released in 1986. My son was born in 2009. So, you can imagine my surprise when he CLUNG TO THIS OLD MOVIE!

Technology changes made the animation in this movie to be quite crappy compared to other more modern movies in 2009. However, this didn’t matter to him. He LOVED it! To this day, I have the intro song memorized.

It’s actually quite a cute and educational movie about the life of a penguin from birth on up adulthood. Because of this movie, he fell IN LOVE with penguins. In fact, he still has his stuffed penguin that he would snuggle with while watching this movie.

We all learned quite a bit about penguins. It’s a movie that will always hold a special place in our hearts for sure! We made several trips to the zoo to see the penguins too!

If you haven’t had the pleasure of watching this movie, I found it on YouTube for your viewing enjoyment: The Full Scamper the Penguin Movie. I think it may also be on NetFlix.

What shows or movies have your kids clung to that surprised you?
