Checking in with God Before Checking AI

How many times a day do we use social media to stay connected with our friends…and even strangers we look up to? Scrolling, and watching videos from people we admire like celebrities, athletes, and experts. We text to keep up, follow others for advice and recipes, listen to podcasts, and hit “like and subscribe” for life hacks and trends.

But when was the last time we truly checked in with God?

Not just out of routine…

Not out of obligation…

Not because it’s Easter weekend…

But from the heart.

The other day, I found myself using Chat GPT to answer a question for me without even THINKING of asking God for the answer. When did that become my habit? When did I start going to AI for answers before asking the One with ALL the answers?

AI can give quick answers, but it can’t offer wisdom, peace, or truth the way God can.

Now, don’t get me wrong…I love AI for so many things. But, I need to be careful to not let it replace the answers God can give me. It’s not about avoiding the amazing tools we have, but remembering who we should turn to first.

How about you? Have you had a realization like this? I’d love to hear about it!

With Love and Aloha,

Lacy

  1. We live in strange times that’s for sure. And unfortunately turning to AI, be it ChatGPT, YouTube or whatever has become a bit of a habit for so many of us. Personally I don’t like Chat but I do tune into YouTube and check social media more than what’s healthy. You’re right about turning to God, tuning into ourself and our own inner knowing. Definitely a wiser and higher source of wisdom. Great and very timely post, thanks Lacy. 🙏

    1. You’re right—it can feel like we’re constantly pulled into screens and outside noise. The key is being mindful about it rather than letting it run on autopilot. Tools like AI or social media aren’t necessarily a problem on their own; it’s how much space we give them in our lives. Finding that balance is hard for sure. Appreciate the thoughtful comment.
