Wellness Wednesday
On the way home from school yesterday, I overheard a conversation between my kids (4 & 7 years old).
My son: “You know what, Sissy? Sometimes, I’m just so proud that you’re my sister.”
My daughter: “Me to. I’m proud of you too!”
As you can imagine, this resulted in a huge smile on my face. I think I might have actually grabbed at my heart a little bit too because it was just so stinking cute.
This simple conversation has been on my mind ever since.
It made me stop and question how often I compliment people. I don’t mean the expected compliments like, “you did great in today’s basketball game.” I mean the random, out of nowhere compliments like my son gave my daughter.
Compliments like:
“You really are a fun person to be around.”
“I have always looked up to you and your confidence.”
“You are so knowledgeable about that subject. I can tell you’ve really studied hard. It’s paying off!”
I don’t know about you, but those are the types of compliments I enjoy receiving. Compliments that I know came from their heart and not out of obligation.
I’m going to make it a personal goal of mine to try to give out more compliments.
We are surrounded by so much negativity and competition to be the best. It’s become too easy to have a Spicy tongue towards each other. In fact, I think we’ve forgotten to pat each other on the back when we see someone excelling.
Our words have so much power. We can use them to build people up or tear people down.
Why not use them for the better?
Friends, join me today and try to give out some compliments. Get ready for some smiles from the recipients. Nothing melts my heart more than making someone smile 🙂

With Aloha,
Lacy

So true. A compliment can brighten up a person’s day. We need to provide more positive strokes everyday. Thanks for the reminder.
It can give us that extra boost we need!
Receiving a compliment from a stranger always brightens up my day! I definitely need to start doing this more often!
Isn’t That Charming.
I agree. Sometimes, a stranger can see a side of us we don’t see ourselves. I love to see that perspective!
Love this! Thanks for including me!
Awwww… that’s such a sweet thing that your son said! That’s awesome!

Love it so much I had to WordPress it! Your compliments on my blog made my day! I only have three followers and I had started to feel like no one was reading my blogs except family. Thank you for going out of your way to do something nice for someone!
Awe, don’t lose hope. It takes time to build followers. I found that doing the daily word prompts works great for getting your blog out there for people to see. I enjoy your blog so much and can’t wait to see what else you have to say!

A lovely post on compliments.
Thank you! I appreciate the share 🙂
Good and relevant topic Lacy! We could all use a regular reminder to liberally sprinkle comments (aka Fairy Dust) at every opportunity. I like the line “Words can Build Up or Tear Down” – I used it in my “Father Speech” at one of our kids wedding.
I bet that was a wonderful speech! It’s so true about our words. My goal in life is to build people up…it can start with something as simple as the words we speak!
“Whatever is good, pure, lovely … think and speak of those things1” (Scripture paraphrase)
So true, couldn’t agree more. Your kids sound delightful too. You should also be proud 😊
They do make me so proud 🤗
